North Atlantic Buckskin Association

NABA was re-established in 2010 and incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in Vermont, dedicated to the promotion of the Buckskin, Dun, Red Dun and Grulla horses. The NABA Charter strives to continue the promotion of these fine animals in all aspects of the light horse industry! NABA hosts several horse shows throughout the year where people can show their IBHA registered horses for national IBHA points. Members can also earn points throughout the season for NABA year-end awards.

Although NABA represents a color breed, we offer an extensive OPEN division. Everything from showmanship, to pleasure, to barrels! Open classes are open to all breeds and all colors. You do not have to be a NABA member to enter any of these classes at the shows, but if you would like to compete for yearend awards, you need to join NABA. Each year NABA hosts our Year-End Awards Banquet to recognize and award the competitors, who have earned the most points throughout the show season. Awards are given for both IBHA/Buckskin classes as well as Open classes.

Hours On The Trail Program

NABA’s “Hours on the Trail” is a trail riding program which offers a year-end award for the high point Adult and Youth riders. Once you sign up, you will receive a log sheet to keep track of your hours. All log sheets must be sent in by the end of September and winners will be announced at the banquet. Signing up is only $5.00 per horse/rider combination and you must have a current NABA membership. Click here for program flyer.

Queen's Contest

Enter our Queen’s Contest & get a chance to represent NABA at the IBHA World Show and compete for IBHA Queen’s Contest the following year. Get a chance to participate at the IBHA Dunarama World Classic. Send us a completed Queen’s Application, photo of yourself in western attire, copy of your horse’s IBHA registration papers & an essay on “Why you would be a great representative for NABA” by May 7.

NABA Youth Programs & Activities

NABA is also adding more youth programs every year. This year NABA youth members can compete for the All Around Youth Horsemanship Award, Battle of the Barns, Horse Quiz Bowl and much, much more. We will also be offering horsemanship clinics for our youth. Keep an eye out in our newsletters for some fun coloring pages, boggle word games, word searches & mazes.

Important Notice

In order to qualify for yearend awards, each NABA member must participate in at least ONE FUNDRAISER. As members, we need to pull together to raise money so that our shows can continue to succeed and improve.
